Things I've Learned Since Having Boys-Besides The Importance of Good Insurance
1. You can get about 4-5 good years out of a couch.
2. While the target looks plenty big, it is extremely hard to shoot a straight stream.
3. A 4 year old can urinate on the ceiling.
4. Any contact with the outdoors makes a little boy need to pee immediately-front or back yard
5. Any item can become a weapon (so all you "no guns" mommies need to get over it)
6. It is possible to some how get dirty in the bath.
7. Star Wars is the source of life.
8. It is impossible for 2 boys to "stop bothering your brother".
9. It's okay to be dirty and stink cause, and I quote "that's what boys do"(Banks-6).
10. If the house is suddenly quiet you should start praying...HARD, without ceasing...and RUN!
11. It is necessary to check 'the manhood' on a constant basis in order to ensure it is still properly attached.
12. "Do not get muddy" when said to a boy translates into "son, please, whatever you do, immediately find some mud and roll around then run through the house".
13. Standing in the toilet and flushing it is fun.
14. Standing in the shower fully clothed is fun.
15. Standing in the front yard pants around knees and peeing is fun.(sorry Mrs. Bales)
16. Standing on your sister is fun.*
17. Standing on your brother is fun.*
18. Pulling planks off the neighbor's fence is fun. (sorry Elizabeth)
19. Painting the neighbor's garage with mud is fun.(sorry Elizabeth)
20. Life is fun...and a tad messy. (sorry Elizabeth)
*especially if they yell

Hmmmmm
I was intrigued when I realized that all my daughter's drunk friends were voting for Obama and so it got me to thinking...is he planning on lowering the drinking age?

Slow Learner (no, this is not about Nate and Jordan)
There is a guy at the church I grew up (Porter) that is one of my favorite people in the world. His name is Charlie McKenney. The poor man has put up with me as long as I can remember. Everytime I see him, when I leave, I feel better than I did before. He makes me know I am special, like he had been hoping to see me. It doesn't matter if I feel awful or good, after being with him I feel more alive.
I was my granny's (Hoffman) favorite(that's right Reid girls). She lived in Missouri and we got to see her maybe twice a year. It was so obvious that she had been on the edge of her seat waiting for me to come(unless the Webb City Cardinals were playing. Then she was on the edge for another reason). I knew when I walked into her house that I was the only one she wanted to see.
When I think about both Charlie and Granny I smile. I am at ease. I know that I am loved and special. I started thinking this morning,"what did Charlie and Granny have in common?" They both have in the words of Austin Powers,"that certain...oh I don't know what." The more I pondered it I realized they couldn't have been more different. Only one thing connects the two. They have/had a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. They both sought to know Him and to be like Him. Sometimes I try to convince myself that God is not that interested in me. I mean there are a few other people on the planet besides me (shocking discovery made when I was about 5). But then I think about Granny and Charlie. I know I matter to them. Good grief I am not even related to Charlie (and apparently I can be a real pain in the butt...still up for debate, see me later) and Granny had like 4 million grandkids/nieces/nephews.- By the way my grandma and granny would wake each morning, eat while doing a devotion and then proceed to pray for family, friends, etc. After praying for a few hours, they ate lunch, napped, woke and finished praying!-I am God's child so I think I need to get over myself a bit and know I do matter to Him. I mean I drove my parents nuts and I never doubted whether they loved me (liked me sometimes maybe). Now that I am an adult(also up for debate) I realize that everyone who came in contact with my Granny thought they were her favorite. Oh how I want to be the kind of person that people look forward to seeing(pretty sure I am going to have to work on that), for people to know they really matter. I am so thankful for Charlie and granny for looking at me through the eyes of God. If we could learn to step back and see what He does our world would change. All we see are the pieces. God sees the result, the finished product.
To the Reid girls: I was so the favorite....for real!
